Something is brewing!

IM BACK!

This is a serious!

I need to have a space where I can speak my thoughts!
Where It is not directly linked to my personal website
Where I can speak my mind on different things happening,
That don't have to be about the arts,
A place where I can speak about anything!

I am doing this, simply because I have so much to say that is not about my professional life.
I need something less professional, and more of me!
I won't post on here a lot,
but do expect at least a post or two a month!
You will read about a lot of things,
anything that my head just needs to say
things happening in the world
and even what I think should happen!

BUT!

I still post every week on dpsukup.com about my professional life,
From acting,
to goals,
to theatre,
to the arts,
to new photos,
to new videos,
to new quotes,
and to new jobs
all with the focus of me, Daniel Sukup, as the actor, the artist, and the photographer,

Thank you,

Daniel Sukup

Beliefs

This is one of my favorite times of the year. Winter is almost over, days are getting longer, the beauty of Spring is arriving, and summer is almost here. What could be better?

Ok, winter is still here for a little bit longer but it is getting closer every day.

Ship life is still treating me good, even though there are many days I want to be back in land. I know there are lessons for me to learn here on board that have not be learned yet.

Today I want to specifically talk about how some people discredit stories of religion based on science.

Science has been a great tool for a lot of things in this world. We have found out information regarding the natural laws or the mandatory laws. Science has done incredible work in many fields that deal with our very own lives. I don't want to discredit any of that.

However, people do seem to forget that science is only accepted as truth until proven false, meaning it is only a hypothesis and can not and should not be taken as a life or death truth.

Now, when it come to religion and their stories about how things are or came it be, I get annoyed. Just because something sounds extremely impossible, or improbable because we have no evidence of it every happening that way, does not mean it did not happen that way to those people that are recalling the past.

No one of this earth right now was physically alive when a majority of these stories where seen or first told. Thus nothing can ever be proven that what has been stated is not truth.

Ironically, if we look at religion as a science, then we should accept all information as truth, until proven false. However, to repeat myself, since majority of all religious stoires happened many years ago (before our current lives), it is impossible to fully place forth evidence that what has been stated is 100% false.

I feel the most interesting point regarding these stories is the fact we don't know why these stories are told the way they are told. It could be as simple as trying to get their people to understand the story/lesson better. This helping all ages become stronger in the faith.

For me, this is the best part of religion: having faith. Most cases you are never able to "see it to believe it" and thus you have to have this strong desire to believe it with your heart, mind, and soul to have faith.

I do want to again clarify that I no manner am I an "anti-science" person. Science has given us an incredible amount of information regarding so many topics in our human life that I don't discredit science as a whole.

I will leave with this quote:

"One day you'll discover that death is not what you might imagine it to be; but then, neither is life. Either might be wounderous, filled with change, or if you don't awaken, both may turn out to be a considerable disappointment." -Dan Millman

Thank you,

Daniel

Key West

One of my favorite ports! Not because it is in Americs (ok a little), but it is extremely unique from the art scene, to the hole in the wall resturants and bars, to even the natural views.

This city has so much to offer the average joe all the way to the adventurous soul.

One of the coolest spots to the "Southern-Most Point of America"! At this point you are only 90 miles from Cuba, the furthest south one can be in America! The monument does get crowed but it is well worth the experience to say you went there!!

Another cool spot to go is Mile Marker 0! The only one in the USA!! Nothing extremely special about this mile marker, they are all like the others in the country, but there is something about a giant 0!!

Key West is also home to the "furthest south" National Park (I self claimed it as that, they don't advertise it)! For only $2.50, you are allowed to in to this park and it is so beautiful! If you want to escape all of the tourist then head here for an afternoon of relaxation!! Plus to top it off there is a very small beach where very few people go to!!

The resturants and bars are nothing you have seen or been to before. If you are will to have an experience then Key West will not disappoint. Bars with every type of theme imaginable, food creations that will simply fill your soul, and drinks like no other. There is also much more "normal" stuff as well if this does not interest you.

One of my favorites to go to for a drink is the Porch. This place has incredible selection of beers that will blow your mind. There is also a really good chocolate place near by to feed your sweet tooth.

This about does it for Key West! I am slowly running of topics to write about, however I hope to have some amazing news soon!:)

Till next time,

Daniel

4 Months

Recently,  I just completed 4 months on a cruise ship and it has been an adventure for the books to say the least.

Hello all, I hope that March has been a treat for each of you. I know mind has entered like a lion and will hopefully exit like a lamb.

Being on this cruise ship, for living sakes, has been a journey. From extreme highs and lows, I have personally learned a lot about myself and what I need from a job.
In short, this has been a very positive experience.

In length, I am still blown away that it has been 120 days on a vessel. I have had 58 port days and 62 sea days. I can tell you that out of these days, I have been off this ship a lot less then that. When you work on a ship, you really are on the ship your full contract with hours off to explore the port or relax.

My cabin, or I should say closet, becomes my little piece of heaven, a space to escape the ship for a hot minute. I have learned the movies on the crew tv by heart as they repeat so often. The outside world becomes a thing that you think exsits.  And WiFi is the best thing in the world, right behind downloadable TV movies and episodes. I have stated to read a lot and work on my style of art. All of this has had very positive experience to learn from.

I still can't believe that it has been 4 months. I have made so many friends that will last a life time. I have had this honor to work with many cultures, learning different ways to do simple tasks

Lounge Tech

What a crazy 3 cruises this has been. For 14 days I have been on double duty. First and foremost I am doing my normal stage staff work but on top of that, I am working as the Lounge Tech!

With only a three day handover, I have had to learn 5 differnet venues across the ship. These are the venues that host anything from live music, trivia, special events, and basically anything else that provides any entertainment to the guest.

This has been an extremely fun experience, even though it has been extremely stressful at times, to be working all around the ship. Having to experience simple and complex problems has made my hair want to fall out! :D

One of my favorite events to work is Quest! Everyone goes crazy and it is a huge party. Quest is an event that teams have to present our Crusie director with items or actions as provided by himself. People get extremely rowdy. It is one of those events you have to experience to understand how amazing this is!!!

One night, when a show was to take place, the system locked me out. That was a fun experience to deal with, having to start about 10 minutes late. However, we all learned a lot, and best of all we got through it!!

Over all it has been very positive, no major mess ups that could not be fixed ASAP. It will be nice to get back to normal duty of work, but it has been an extreme pleasure doing something different.

Arcade Nights

Ok, this I needed to share.

On Royal, the HR has many different events for the crew. Such as Arcade nights!!

We have an arcade onboard and on certain nights they turn the machines to free and we get about 2 hours worth of gaming!!

It is one of the most fun you can have. Intense gaming for a few hours!! There is this one Priate game shooting game that Jeananne and I played all night!!

When we played this game, we had only one goal in mind: beat our high score and make the top 5 on the score list!!

After 3 rounds of playing this game, we did it!! Made our new high score!! We were top 5!!

That was the only game we played that night, because we were on a mission. However there are a lot of other games as well. Such as AIR HOCKEY or GUITAR HERO!!

Over all these arcade nights are one of the best things to look forward to! But my favorite nights are Wine and Cheese nights!!:D

Emergency Sea Day

ARE THE WORST!!

Ok, that was an extreme, but they are not as fun as going to port.

Recently we had an emergency day. At first I was thinking this is the captains decision to not go into port, but the decisions also based on the port itself, like an airport. If bad weather happens the port will close. And that is what happen to us.

A port we were going to was closed because of bad weather and the port driver could not reach us.

When this happened, we had an emergency sea day, meaning we had two sea days in a row! Over all was not a big deal, we scheduled different events throughout the ship and made sure we could provide as much entertainment as possible.

The only down side to this day, was that I did not get to call my parents.

That is te breakdown of an emergency sea day!!

New Years Cruise

The New Years Cruise.

What a trip these last few days have been on board and off.

First off it seemed December was not going to leave without a bang. There needed to be more drama before she said goodbye forever. Lucky, all is good and remains positive. Because you know, when you are faced with negativity - bet it with Positivity!:D However, let's not talk about the boring details.

NEW YEARS!!

On board we had many activities for the guests!! More music, more food, more celebration! It seems that in Cruise life, the Holidays wear you out even more then land holidays.

The main attraction that the Stage Staff was involved in was the Balloon drop!! We had a 1000 balloon drop for New Years and it was AWESOME!!

Just look at all of those photos!! Crazy!!

There is Ed getting very close to cutting the string!!

BALLOONS!! So Many!!!

Falling 8 decks!!

All the way to the floor!!

It was a beautiful sight to see!! I love Balloons, but our drummer does not!
He hates the popping sounds of balloons.

That is the exciting stuff of New Years!

But wait there is more!!

The crew party was insanely amazing!! so many amazing friends, so much dancing, so many great memories!! Plus so little sleep! I did not get to sleep until 5am! But it was well worth it!

One amazing thing they allowed us to do was head up to the guest area's night club and it was amazing to see this!! We have a roaring bar!! I did not know that at all!

The night ended with a lot of good memories, fun times, and a beautiful start to 2016!!

Now that all the major holidays are over, it is time to rest and catch up with my readings, photography, and what else I can think of!!

Happy New Year everyone!!

Life is Incredible.

Life is simply amazing.

It is the ultimate gift.

We have one life.

Be in the present. Be in the now.

I say this because just recently I lost an incredible friend and mentor. Her battle with cancer is finally over and now she is playing the piano above and looking down at all of her students preforming on the stage.

It will be strange not seeing her. But I know that see will always be there.

Life is the greatest gift given to us.

Each stage of life teaches lessons that help us along this journey and we may not realize at the moment the lessons presented.

Life is precious.

You will never know when this gift will end for the physical world. This is why we have to take time and cherish every moment, respect ever moment, and learn at each stage of life.

Life is short.

In our terms it may seem long, however with a blink of an eye it is over. It may last  X amount of Earth years, but eventually we will be back to our father. That is when our spirit is continued.

Life will end.

This is the truth that all need to understand and it should not be feared but celebrated. It is sad to see the physical body end as the spirit travels on. But in the end this world is a placeholder as the spirit travels to the one gift that is great then physical life: eternal life.

Have an amazing day today. Make memories that last forever. Spread Positivity. Erase Hate. Live in harmony.

Rough Seas Ahead

Ok, rough seas. To some they are a nightmare filled with fear of sinking and sickness.

For me, it is a free ride on an amausement park ride.

Yes, I just typed that and I love rough seas on the boat.

We have not had anything super bad yes, just bad enough for a lot of people to get seasick, to have an effect of your walking, and thing swaying.

I enjoyed this experience, as I made it a game. Rocking back and forth reminded me of the Viking Ship rides at amusement parks! I love those rides.

Hopefully, this love for rocking will not disappear or have an effect on my body, as of now I love it!!

From what I hear, the crossing to Spain could be very rough! I guess we will see!!

Christmas

Merry (belated) Christmas!!

I hope everyone had an amazing Holiday season. We only have one more holiday in 2015!! That is a crazy thought!!

Well, this was my first Christmas away from family, and to be honest it was not hard but it did not feel like Christmas!

Onthis ship, they try to do everything they can do to make it Christmas. We decorate (not elaborate), Santa visits, they provide different types of mass, and us crew get different treats.

The last part was the nicest!! They gave us 4 days of free internet! 2 very nice dinners! A large book bag (it is very nice to be honest)! And an all crew party!! This 4 day cruise has been very strange, but it has been a treat. To bad it won't last!;)

Other then the extra stuff the ship does for crew, the only other differences are the extra activities for guests. Over all, it just did not feel like Christmas!

Our next cruise, which is about to start will be our New Years Crusie!! I will be on duty so I will be pulling the ballon drop! Not going to lie, I am so looking forward to making 1000+ balloons drop!!

I hope everyone had an incredible month of December. It seems that December is always the hardest month! I pray that everyone is safe and well!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

A Moon View Away

A Moon View Away

Traveling on a cruise ship has so many perks, a big one is traveling. Traveling has always been a major dream of mine. Over every other dream, I have always wanted to experience other cultures, meet new people, and experience new places.

Don't get me wrong, working in a job you love (theatre) does not hurt either.

However, traveling comes with one major downfall for my personality. When I meet these new people and experience these new cultures, a bond is formed. Many times this bond is like glue, never wanting to come apart. It becomes hard.

Maybe I have to much emotion. Maybe I form to strong of relationships. But at the end of the day, that feeling I get (like ripping duct tape off your leg hair), just proves that it all means something.

If this has ever been experienced by any of you, always remember that you are a moon view away!

I just got off the phone with my Mother, and it is hard sometimes, ok let us be real is sucks, but we have to remember that technology is incredible and the moon is always in view! When I can't call, I simply look up! I know that my family is looking up.

As I go down this life trail, I have to start thinking that each moment is a feeling. Sometimes this feeling hurts (in a good way), and this tells us it was important.

I hope this message helped you in some way.

Never forget someone out there is missing you.
Never forget you influenced someone. Never forget we are all in this together.

Brilliance Entertainment

One thing I love about working the cruise ship are the people! Not only the crew or guests, but the entertainers!!

On this ship we mainly have comedians and singers, but we get some strong singers and comedians!

I have worked with people like Kenny James, Earl Turner, Revecca and Donovan and many other performers. All are insanely talented and a joy to work with.

And this is just the beginning. We have had so many comedians that are incredibly funny I can't name them all. Some of my favorites have been:

Michael Zigfield who was a ventriloquist and had an awesome collection of characters.

I also loved The Heath Show by: Heath Hyche! He put on an original sketch comedy show and engaged the audience like no other!! Some of the stage staff laugh and claim he is my father because of personalities!

Now Steve Morris and Lucas Brohn were both incredible comedians! They new their strengths and went with it. Both of them spoke their mind and had good simple comedy. That is the way comedy should be. Simple and sweet!

I have only been one the ship for little over a month and the entertainment that we bring in is so much fun and each cruise we get new people! It is an adventure awaiting to see what happens!

Brilliance of the Seas

Well what an adventure this job has been! It has been everything I hoped it would be and more! The best way to describe this job is an adventure!

Ship life is extremely different from land life. From working hours, to traveling, to living crew corridors.

Let's start with the living corridors. It takes getting used to living in a closet. I am not joking by that either. We live in very small corridors with many of the cabins not having portholes. These cabins have everything you need, bed, storage, bathroom, shower. All cramped in a very small spot. But none of this matters to me, since you only sleep in your room. (And we do have crew tv! Which is awesome!)

Through out the ship, the crew have many hangout spots to simply chill on their time off. From the day room, mess hall, bar, and forward lounge, having a small area does not bug me as much!

Traveling has been something else I have needed to get used to. I love to travel, but have never been stuck on somthing for 24+ hours. Sea days are extremely strange and can be difficult.

Strange because there is a lot more work (got to keep the guests entertained) but you can't get off the ship, you are stuck. That feel can get to you, but you find ways to entertain yourself.

Difficult because, if you know me, I get bored easy. If I have many hours off I between shifts, I get bored because there is nothing to do. This has been a challenge for me.

Finally the working hours! As for the working part, I work the same hours I do on land at a theatre. Nothing has changed in that. However, you never get a day off, you get hours off. Which has been another big adjustment! However, 3 cruises down and I love it. It does not bug me that I don't have a day off. I guess I was cut out for ship life. Hmmm...guess we will see where this take me.

In other news, I finally got to check off another bucket list item!! I had my Birthday in a different country - COZUMEL, MEXICO!! What a treat that was! Look for a post about my adventure in Mexico on my birthday!!

Have a great week everyone and write to you all soon!

The Next Big Thing is here!

Yes, the next big thing is here and it is not a smartphone! It is my next career adventure!

As most know that I am joining the Brilliance of the Seas by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines TOMORROW!

I am thrilled for this new experience and can't wait to share every moment with all of you!

Before all of this begins, I need to continue thanking my family, friends, and coworkers that support me in all of my decisions and adventures! I could not do this without you. I truly mean all of that. Without this support I would not be sitting here doing what I love and reaching my dreams.

The last two months have been a blessing and I can't say that enough either! It was a blast living with my family and sharing memories that will last a life time! I was extremely blessed to be able to have the time that I had with them! So Eldon and Tami Sukup Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done in the last 2 months. Thank you for all the great memories, moments, and adventures! This next one will be huge!

So here is to the next adventure! Welcome Aboard!

It is only beginning...

We all need to learn about ourselves. We all need to explore who we are. We all need to discover.

A while back, I entered a journey and found an answer that I was wanting. One answer lead to more questions. As of now, I continue to look for more. It seems that today we are spending more time feeling empty. To fill this emptiness, most will take hold of distractions to ignore. While others will always question and find the fulfillment.

For me, I continue the ladder and find the fulfillment. Spiritually, mentally, and physically, all need to be filled. It is an individual journey, that will require others.

Now when it is understood that everything is connected, everything is apart of the same. That is when  fulfillment starts to begin. But not until it is realized fully; spiritually, mentally, and physically that it will begin.

I have reached that point, I have figured out that empty filling and have started to grow. I now look for answers from the past, to know more of who I am, where I come from, and the past of my family.

This is just the beginning and where it takes me will be the mystery. I do know that I will be able to connect the dots one day, and I will have the growth that can be achieved in my Spirituality, mentality, and physicality.

A lot of people have contributed to this and I could not be more thankful.

Now I challenge everyone to experience a self journey/exploration/growth and see where it takes you!

Family

Ok, by now most people know my next big adventure! Look for a post here soon about what cities I will be going to soon!

Today I want to talk about family. I have talked about family many times, each one a little different. Now I get to write as an "adult".

I have been "unemployed" for over a month. I use quotation marks because I had a future job in line!

Since September 4th, I have been at home, with the company of my family. For the first month, it was nice but I was getting restless and annoyed not working. Not know when I was going to my next job was putting a blind up on cherishing my time with family. I was enjoying it, but not to the degree that I should have been.

Once I learned about my job on September 30th, I then had an end date wth family. I was given one more month with family. This was exciting, this took the blinds away and allowed me to fully embrace my family and understand that it was not going to be "forever".

Now, with less then a month before I go on my cruise, my time with family has been more Cherishable and memorable.

It hit me, why do I need to know an end date to value family more then what I was? Having a date that it ends, forces us to take in every moment more then when we don't know.

If we keep going through life acting like we have forever, then each moment will never reach the richness it could.

However, if we live as if the next day it all ends, each moment of that day will be richer. Making memories that are vivid and complete.

Out of these two months, I can guarantee that I will remember this last month more then my first month, simply on the fact that I have an end date.

Just remember, out of all of this, cherish each moment because we don't know when it will all end.

Thank you
Daniel Sukup

Arnold's Park

What a fun surprise it was when I found out how close I was to Arnold's Park! Of course I needed to get my credit on the 'Ledgend' to get my coaster count that much closer to 100!

This was a very small park, but did offer some flat rides that you will not see at any major park. That was treat in itself.

The entrance to the park is a very unique one! To be honest this is one of my favorites, to bad that is the real coaster going over!!

After you park, you are invited to play on insturments at the harmony park! This was a blast and could see people really enjoyed playing!

After this park, you can enter the amusement park!:D

The first stop was the tipsy house! I have never been in one and I was very pleased! It goes right over the Ledgend coaster!!

Dad trying to sit down on a bench!

The now famous 'Point of No Return' sign! With smaller parks they don't have loose article signs or rules, so taking a picture of this sign was not breaking the rules!;)

You know, I know these don't mean anything new when it comes to landmarks, but they are so much fun to read about! Ledgend is the 13th oldest coaster in the world!!

This ride I have heard about from other enthusiasts and it did not disappoint! This is the most ghetto ride I have ever been on! It is best experienced then talked about!

I am going to guess that this used to be for their old roller coaster that used to be in the park. Now they have a log flume!:D "we're on a log flume..."

This small ride is best described as a super mini Huss swing! This ride swings and spins, but as you can tell, it is very small!!

Leaving the park!:( it was a super fun trip! This shops outside the park are fun, but the best hidden secret is the boat museum!! They have Arnold Park history in side and it was a treat to see what the park used to be!!

This is a working haunted figure from their haunted ride they used to have!

Anyways, the park was very fun and I enjoyed it A lot!! Very small, unique, and home to a very old coaster!

Till next time,

Daniel sukup

Going to a Fair

I have not been to a fair in year! So it was a surprise to me that my family and I decided to go to the "World's Grestest County Fair" and it did not disappoint!

From rides to events and exhibits as far as the eye can see. Let's not forget about the traditional fair food!

I had a blast and captured my trip!

Let's start the day off with a group shot at the entrance! Parking was free and they even shuttled us to the gate! So far a great start to the day!

One of many exhibits at the fair! He would crave the trees to be like this. It is an amazing talent and to watch him do it was such a treat.

For $5 you could shot paintballs at a trailer!!

Dogs racing with monkeys as their jockey! It honesty was a very funny sport to watch!

This was a van that they were painting as 'Starry Night' and I got to paint it and sign the bumper!!

Now on to my favorite parts! RIDES!!

gravatron!! I have not rode this style of spinning ride and now I finally have!! Have to admit that I am more enjoy Gravatrons ten Rotors!!

The rides! I also have never rode the ring of fire and that was an interesting experience to say the least! I did enjoy the ride, but why did Six Flags add these??

Fairs never have rules!! About to drop on the Super Shot!

These Acrobatic dudes where very enjoyable to watch. They used the space and made sure the audience was engaged!

Night shots!! I did not ride anything at night because we were leaving but captured a few beautiful images!!

It was a very fun day! I was impressed by the fair, have not been to one in years, and simply enjoyed every minute of it!! What a wonderful experience!!

The rest of the photos are on Facebook! Next post will be about Arnold's Park!

This is it.

THIS IS IT!

I feel like Michael Jackson for saying this, This is it! (to soon?)

We are in the final stretch of 'Tecumseh!' the worlds greatest outdoor drama. Only 5 shows left to see this amazing show! This summer has flown by so quickly and now the end is in sight. We close Saturday, so make it out to Chillicothe, OH to see this amazing show, but most importantly to see me! As we get close to the end, I have to look back at all of the amazing things this company has taught me!

The past three seasons have been amazing! This was my first big time professional theatre, and I have learned so much in the past three seasons. From stage combat, to horse riding, playing with fire, and my most favorite thing of the show: HIGH FALL! All of these skills will advance me even further into my professional career!

I could not thank my directors enough: Adam Burke and Jenny Male have been amazing to work with and giving me a strong base for my career!

Here are some number to think about for the past three seasons:

222 - Shows

555 - hours of show time

148 - Shows as Kothee

74 - Shows as Leaning Tree

451 - High Falls

11,275 - Feet fallen

148 - Tecumseh! body lifts

592 - Wig changes in the 2015 season

962 - Wig changes in all three seasons

370 - Quick changes

888 - Character changes

Over 100+ New amazing actors that I have met and have changed my life!

Most important: 0 Missed shows, 0 Injuries

All of these in the past three seasons! Some of the numbers are so crazy to me! It is strange to think that it is almost all over. The conclusion of my third seasons is here! Like I said, I have learned so much from this amazing company and there will always be a special spot in my heart for all of this! Tecumseh! 2016 will be here before you know it!

As I wrap up this season, I start to forward to what the rest of the year has to offer me! This is my first full year out of school and I have been working steadily for the last 9 months! Now it comes time to see what will be happening in the fall!

I already know what I will be doing this fall, but I am not ready to announce this excitement! I will give you a hint that this will be the biggest movement forward in my career to date! In fact, it will be the world's largest! I am not joking about that either! All details will be released soon!

It is always a great thing to look at your past, to see how the dots have connected, to see your growth. Then take this information and fly with it. Reach the stars, once there reach for the end of the galaxy! The dreams only become reality, when starting from a strong base!

My love,

Daniel Sukup
