Key West

One of my favorite ports! Not because it is in Americs (ok a little), but it is extremely unique from the art scene, to the hole in the wall resturants and bars, to even the natural views.

This city has so much to offer the average joe all the way to the adventurous soul.

One of the coolest spots to the "Southern-Most Point of America"! At this point you are only 90 miles from Cuba, the furthest south one can be in America! The monument does get crowed but it is well worth the experience to say you went there!!

Another cool spot to go is Mile Marker 0! The only one in the USA!! Nothing extremely special about this mile marker, they are all like the others in the country, but there is something about a giant 0!!

Key West is also home to the "furthest south" National Park (I self claimed it as that, they don't advertise it)! For only $2.50, you are allowed to in to this park and it is so beautiful! If you want to escape all of the tourist then head here for an afternoon of relaxation!! Plus to top it off there is a very small beach where very few people go to!!

The resturants and bars are nothing you have seen or been to before. If you are will to have an experience then Key West will not disappoint. Bars with every type of theme imaginable, food creations that will simply fill your soul, and drinks like no other. There is also much more "normal" stuff as well if this does not interest you.

One of my favorites to go to for a drink is the Porch. This place has incredible selection of beers that will blow your mind. There is also a really good chocolate place near by to feed your sweet tooth.

This about does it for Key West! I am slowly running of topics to write about, however I hope to have some amazing news soon!:)

Till next time,

Daniel

Lounge Tech

What a crazy 3 cruises this has been. For 14 days I have been on double duty. First and foremost I am doing my normal stage staff work but on top of that, I am working as the Lounge Tech!

With only a three day handover, I have had to learn 5 differnet venues across the ship. These are the venues that host anything from live music, trivia, special events, and basically anything else that provides any entertainment to the guest.

This has been an extremely fun experience, even though it has been extremely stressful at times, to be working all around the ship. Having to experience simple and complex problems has made my hair want to fall out! :D

One of my favorite events to work is Quest! Everyone goes crazy and it is a huge party. Quest is an event that teams have to present our Crusie director with items or actions as provided by himself. People get extremely rowdy. It is one of those events you have to experience to understand how amazing this is!!!

One night, when a show was to take place, the system locked me out. That was a fun experience to deal with, having to start about 10 minutes late. However, we all learned a lot, and best of all we got through it!!

Over all it has been very positive, no major mess ups that could not be fixed ASAP. It will be nice to get back to normal duty of work, but it has been an extreme pleasure doing something different.

Arcade Nights

Ok, this I needed to share.

On Royal, the HR has many different events for the crew. Such as Arcade nights!!

We have an arcade onboard and on certain nights they turn the machines to free and we get about 2 hours worth of gaming!!

It is one of the most fun you can have. Intense gaming for a few hours!! There is this one Priate game shooting game that Jeananne and I played all night!!

When we played this game, we had only one goal in mind: beat our high score and make the top 5 on the score list!!

After 3 rounds of playing this game, we did it!! Made our new high score!! We were top 5!!

That was the only game we played that night, because we were on a mission. However there are a lot of other games as well. Such as AIR HOCKEY or GUITAR HERO!!

Over all these arcade nights are one of the best things to look forward to! But my favorite nights are Wine and Cheese nights!!:D

Emergency Sea Day

ARE THE WORST!!

Ok, that was an extreme, but they are not as fun as going to port.

Recently we had an emergency day. At first I was thinking this is the captains decision to not go into port, but the decisions also based on the port itself, like an airport. If bad weather happens the port will close. And that is what happen to us.

A port we were going to was closed because of bad weather and the port driver could not reach us.

When this happened, we had an emergency sea day, meaning we had two sea days in a row! Over all was not a big deal, we scheduled different events throughout the ship and made sure we could provide as much entertainment as possible.

The only down side to this day, was that I did not get to call my parents.

That is te breakdown of an emergency sea day!!

Moving on!

As this contract is about to end, I think it is about time to announce my next plan for 2015!

Moving On!

It is so much fun always moving on to the next project! This is one of many reasons that I love theater and being an artist, always finding new projects to work on. Some are short term and some are long term! Today I want to announce two projects that I will be pulling my focus to after this contract with Missoula Children's Theatre is over.

First I want to annoys that I will be back at Tecumseh! this summer for the third year! I will never forget the first summer there and I asked the returnees, "why do people keep coming back?" and the best answer I received was, "you will have to wait and see!" At first I unsure about this answer and exactly the meaning behind it, however that has all changed after my first season. I honestly don't know how to explain it, there is something about that mountain that keeps calling me back. Something is not finished and I still feel the calling back to the mountain! I am thrilled to be back again this year and I am crazy positive that it will be an incredible summer at the best outdoor drama there is!!

Second, for anyone that reads this will be the first to know that I am officially going to push my photography to the next level. Starting this summer, I will start pulling more focus to capturing and make these all available to each of you! There will be more information as I define exactly what I want to do. With all of the positive push I have receive with my photography, I have decided to find the next step!

These are my next two steps after Missoula Children's Theatre. This only covers the summer, but the adventure of what happens after August 31st! Be sure to follow this blog to be the first to find out!

Spring break

Just as the title says:

ITS SPRING BREAK!

What a crazy idea, I am graduated and I still get the beauty of spring break! I am so excited!! This week so far has been everything a person could imagine! From relaxing, to shopping, to sighting seeing, to bike riding, and even swimming! We have it all and we did not have to go to Florida for this!! We are in:

Sandpoint Idaho!
This town is obviously a very big tourist town, but not in the spring time! This town is alive with heart and not filled with tourist! That is the lake that we are staying on, and it is so beautiful!!! Mind you it is about 50-70 feet lower during the winter time period and full in the summers!

This lake is the 5th deepest lake in the nation, at a staggering 1200 feet deep, some locals believe that it is much deeper then that!! 43 miles long, 111 miles of shore line and unlimited amount of fun, what better place for SPRING BREAK!! (ok, not going to lie, Florida would be amazing!)

We got up here on Tuesday, and will be here until Sunday when we have to go to Kalispell for our next week!! I hear there are four other teams in the area!! Can't wait to catch up with them all!!

Tuesday we really did not do much, got checked in and looked around. But the real big fun started Wednesday!!

Wednesday was our first full day in the city (7,365 pop.) and when shopping at all of the amazing cool stores this town has to offer! I came up with the Idea to rent a bike as it was to be very nice this week (50s with some clouds) and I found a very reasonable shop: $20 for 24 hours!! So needless to say I am going to rent a bike!! Oh, and I bought a rock that has water trapped inside, could be thousands of years old (the water)!!!

Thursday, was an amazingly tiring day!! I rented my bike and rode everywhere that was anywhere!!! Over 34 miles of biking today!!! Yes you read that correctly, 34 miles!!! I went to 4 different towns, including one that was 8 miles away!! In the picture above, that bridge (correctly called long bridge) I biked over to the next town called Sagle!! What a beautiful bike!!

Friday, I plan to return my rented bike, see the Movie Paper Planes (the movie theatre that is showing it here is the first in america to show it), see the musical Venus in Fur, and rest!!

Saturday I have surprises planned, meaning I have no idea what I am doing

Sunday I am going to celebrate easter the best way I know! We also have to drive to our next town!:(

Anyways that is our spring break!! I can't wait to share all developments with you!!

The Bohemian Lifestyle

It was not until about a week a go that I realized something really cool about this job! When you read about it, you will see how obvious it was!
This is very similar to our family crest!

Hello all!

First off I pray that these days have been a blessing for you to be living! It is crazy how fast each one goes, but each one is a gift! If you live like that, no only will you feel like it is your birthday but also your days will be filled with gratitude!

Moving on to this job. As this title suggests, this is a Bohemian life style. It is a wonderful term to official term to put on my life! Some of you may frown at this term being held to my current life, but it is a beauty of a word. Bohemian lifestyle is  simply an artist or 'litterateur" who, consciously or unconsciously, secedes from conventionality in life and in art. That is exactly who I am. Not only with this job but also with my life.

However, this job is also exactly like that. We enter a random town, either stay with a family or a hotel, and live in this town for a week, then when we are done we move to the next town! This is beautiful way of living, stay in an area for a little bit and then get to move to see another town. I love this for the adventure side of me, but also the faith side of me.

Living life as the so so called "Bohemian" style has been a huge life lesson for me. From getting use to traveling to new areas every Sunday, to meeting some of the most amazing people I have ever met in my life, to learn different lessons in my faith, and to experience different views compared to other places I have lived. Over all it has been a showcase for me to see a different part of America and learn from other people. In the end we are all a part of this human race, here to learn from each other instead of fight each other.

I love this job, it has so much value that other jobs just simply can't offer. As I continue this journey, I will keep you posted on new adventures and happenings in my neck of the woods! Have an incredible day and make today a glorious one!!

What happens now?

For some time now I have been on a self exploration and something major hit me today, something so stupid that I should have realized it sooner.

Hello all,

I am nearing (as we all know) the closer of the final chapter of College. It has been ,overall, a beautiful adventure. However, as the last year has been ticking by I have felt I have lost something. The Daniel that enter college is not the same leaving. I am not talking about maturing, not taking about political views or any of that jazz.

Today, while driving to school, it hit me like a giant whale slamming into a car. I can't thrive on routine. I lose my creative spark, I feel disconnect, I use distractions to get me by. The way I thrive in life is by variety and a continuous change of environment.

I have been at school for 4 1/2 years and have studied under the same professors for about the same time. The spark of school has left. The spark of new has left. The spark has left. My mind feels closed, my thoughts trapped, I am not speaking my mind. It is thrilling that this happened to me, for I just learned the greatest life lesson today.

To have my life at its fullness, I have to have a variety. This puts me in a heightened state, where I am more active, focused, creative, driven.

Without this feeling and allowing "the grass to grow" makes me feel like I don't have control. Makes me feel lost.

I have realized I have to have control of my life. I can't let something or someone restrain me in life. Just to clarify, I am not talking about being a boss at work and not letting people take over. I am specifically talking about my life.

At this point, I need this college to end. I need to move out of STL (even though I love this city), I need new.

So what happens now?

I graduate, I leave the comfortable, I strive for new, change, and adventure. I have been told not to "wish it all away" and I can reassure you that I am not "wishing it all away." In fact I am wanting to do the next thing. I have accomplished all that I need to here at school. I need my next challenge.

To all of the nay Sayers I may have, I tell you this: each person is different, each person requires something different. What I need is for me to decide and I am going to do that.

For anyone that is also feeling lost in any way of form: do what I have done for the past year: start questioning everything you do, your emotions, patterns. Write down your best and worst moment and ask why! Figure out what makes you tick, and why. Once you accomplish this, eventually you will hit a realization like I did!

I had to tell everyone this! Happy December! Happy 3 days till graduation! Happy 8 days till I move! Happy endings! Happy beginnings! Happy adventures!!

Goodbye to November and Hello December!

Hello...Goodbye...Where did time go?

Hello All,

How was your Thanksgiving? Was it the best one in year or just another one that existed? No matter what it was, I hope there was a lot of FOOD!

Anyways, when we get to sit back and look at the past 30 days we see how much time was wasted and how much was well spent.

The last 30 days have been an adventure that I will not soon forget!

-23rd Birthday memories
-Missoula tour information
-Final month of my undergraduate career
-seeing old friends
-new sights
-advance in dance
-and so much more!

This is simply one month over look that has delivered me with great memories and adventure! I don't want any reader to think that this is a brag about my life, I want each and every single person to do this at the end of each month. Look Back, see the achievements, see the accomplishments (no matter how small or large) and enjoy what you find! Always look at the positive and appreciate what you find!

Now for the next month: December! Already lining up to be the greatest month of the year! From a major family vacation, ending my undergrad, and starting the real world! The future looks bright and will offer many memories!
This will be the last month of the year, aim high and achieve great memories and adventure! You may just surprise yourself!

HERE IS TO 2015!!

Have an amazing start to the week!!

Sunsetting

Hello All,

Here are some numbers for you:
Days till graduation: 33
Days left in STL: 38
Days of classes left: 23
MWF classes left: 12
T/TH classes left: 8
Weekends left: 3 (minus thanksgiving)

The sun is setting on this great adventure. Time has ticked by with great amplitude. Four and a half years has left its impression. Half a decade is approaching for my first graduation. It is a crazy thought when you think about it. Where did everything go?  Where did all that free time go? Where did almost 200 crt. hours go? It is gone, in the past with all of the great memories.

I keep getting asked, are you nervous? I am not nervous, I am not scared, I am more then ready to move on to the next chapter. I am however in a strange position of emotions. I know I will miss this place, I know I will miss all of the people, memories, and the city. I know this to be fact, but I also know that I can't stay here any longer, otherwise I will never get to experience what God has in store for me. I crave the unknown, this is when I feel alive! I breathe under pressure. It adds this excitement that safety and security can't offer me. Going down a path of darkness is a thrill, and it is even more of a thrill when God is leading the way and you simply follow. Will it be easy? I know that it will be the hardest adventure I have ever done in my life, I know that I will struggle, I know that I will fail, I know that I will hate it at time, BUT the best thing in the world: When I am finally at the spot God wants me, it will be the greatest feeling in the world. It will all worth the pain, the failures, the mistakes, everything.

As I have stated before, where I am going in life I don't know. I do know that I will be performing, I will go to the job, I will listen to my heart, and most importantly I will listen to God. Before accepting the Missoula job, if you would have told me a year ago that I would work in MT after graduation, I would have laughed in your face so hard that I would have turned blue. Everyone knows I hate winter, I hate cold, I hate snow, but there is a reason I was put in MT. Let that adventure begin NEXT MONTH!

I will be keeping you all up to date will all of the greatness, hardness, and adventure as this month and every month continues. I will make it one exciting adventure!

Have an amazing month! Remember, to do great in life, to have that exciting adventure, you can't take the easy road.

We will talk about sunsets next time,

Daniel sukup

The Odometer

Hello All,

i remember the time that i had to drive alone
435 was the desired distance
this made up for a new adventure

my feeling were mixed.
alone excited fear thrill
mixed into one bowl

i sat down turned the key
the start of the engine started me
place into gear backup head forward

getting on the road was fine
energy pumping and thumping
eyes wide like an add child

imagery here there everywhere
my eyes traveled east west heaven hell
excitement ran like ice-cream on a hot day

this all changed when i encounter nothing
no city
no town
no village
nothing but darkness

my eyes became like a brick dropping through water
my body wanting to stop
but knowing if i do i would die

i kept on going
finally i saw something
the thrill of the world
twisted track that weaved and waved

the worlds of thrill and excitement came to one place
as i drove by my heart leaped
leaped for the joy of adrenaline

speeding by
this new emotion ended as quite as it came
again on this road of nothing
five long hours
200 more to go

as time ticked
the number shrunk
so did my heart

my fuel to e
nothing around
could i make it
50 left
0 liquids to give

as my fear started to come true
i saw the lights of a pump that would so save
it was like seeing an angel for the first time

a quick stop
a quick break
a quick fuel
i am almost home

the final hour went by quicker then ever
i made it alone
that was four years ago
now that seems like a pebble

what faces me now
thriple the length
a new adventure in my life

will the same emotions happen
i cant say but God will be there

God will give me the strength to continue
the protection of the open life
i my have fear but know it will be taken care of

welcome to life the road awaits

Final week pt. 3

Hello all,

Today I start to make my final stops in Chillicothe Ohio!:(

With only 3 full days left in the area, i need to say good bye to some of the best food, bars, and hidden spots of Chilliothe.

Let's start out with Crispie Creme Doughnut shop! This is the best doughnuts I have ever had. Yes, it is a CC not a KK.

I try to stop once a week, but that sometimes does not happen. Anyways, I always get two glazed doughnuts and counter coffee. I get that same order so much, when I walk in they start pouring my coffee and getting my doughnuts! Now that is a great place! The doughnuts are to die for! The perfect amount if air in the dough, a beautiful glaze, and the best coustmer service I have had in a long time!

After being there for breakfast, an amazing go spot for Lunch is Grinders

This place is family owned and features some of the best coffee I have ever had at a resturant. The food is superb, the atmosphere only adds to the experience and the history of this town.

The food prices are not bad. My thoughts are that they rep event the food quality very well.

They have signature chips, that you have to get, that are also very good.

Now after finishing up at Grinders, you may need some coffee.

Both coffee shops in chillicothe are incredible! They will get to know you quickly and are super sweet. The coffee at Coffee craze and rayz is ok, but the atmosphere and the couches are amazing!!

The coffee at Schlagels (spelling?) is the best, the atmosphere is incredible! Very chill, but no tv to unwind. I prefer their coffee over anyone's else (minus Starbucks) and would go there more if I wanted to just chill and read.

After your coffee you may need to walk around and see some parks.

Chillicothe has some of the most amazing parks that I have seen. When you come to this town, you would be surprised that these parks exist here. They have incredible cliffs, rocks formations, views, and beautiful forests!!

If you are like me and love history, for some reason Chillicothe is the heart of the Earthworks in America. The concentration of earthworks in this area is higher then any other place in America or the world! Earthworks are mounds, or shapes created by the natives some 2000 years ago! Simple breath taking to see!

After you long adventure, you will want a beer! But where? Well now being here for two summers, I have been to every bar here. I have narrowed it down to two bars: Cross Keys, and Stiener's Speakeasy! These are the best bars that offer the most variety, best prices, best chilled atmosphere, and simple the best service.

I have never been to bars that are so happy to serve you, to greet you, and always make sure you are happy. I also tell them to make me something, I don't care what, and they do it! It might be that know me to well now!;)

Go to these palces if you are ever in chillicothe for a fun experice of the town itself!! That is chillicothe in a nut shell. There are so many palces in this town that will make your day bright, but only wanted to highlight a few!:)

Look out for tomorrow's post!:) we are getting closer to the end and tomorrow will be a surprise!
