The week of final

Hello all,

It is a crazy week ahead of me, and to be honest, it is a crazy rest of the year a head of me.

First off this week! It is the last week to see Tecumseh! For the 2014 season!! If you get a chance you need to see this show! Simply incredible!! This year we are standing on a 6.5% attendance increase from last year! Last year we had a 2% increase!!

Today marks the last Monday of the season! The last fight call of the season! My tours are winding down!:( I will have one final milestone this season on Friday!;) but what is it??

This season has been a blessing and it continues to blow me out of the water. Physically I was more prepared this year, but Kothee demands more then Leaning Tree and guess what! I was prepared for it all! I get to do it 6 more times!

Last year I was new to this and it was my first major professional acting job! Now being a vet at this show, my confidence and ambition has only grew. I also better understand what roles best fit for me, not only in Tecumseh!, but else where!

My goal this week is to write a new post about each of the 'last' and how they have helped me grow.

As I mentioned earlier, today is our last fight call! We have these every Monday to refresh the fights, since we had a day off!

Last year, I had not one drop of stage fighting experience! However I have two year worth under my belt! I never thought I was a great stage fighter to begin with, but that idea has change this year.

With more knowledge and experience, I have become a good stage fighter. Still have so much room to grow!:)

If you remember, ealier this summer I took a Quarterstaff class. This was my very first stage fighting class. It was taught by Jenny Male, a certified instructor of the SAFD.

When you take an SPT (Skills Profiecy Test) class for Quarterstaff, you ave to complete 30 hours of class time and cover X amount of requirements to take the SPT.

When you take the test you can either get a basic pass or a recommended pass. Both mean that you passed but the recommend pass means you have a first class ticket vs a coach ticket to Hawaii.

I just heard what I received in that class and I passed with a ...drum roll... Recommend!!! I am thrilled to announce this! It shows that I have gained a lot of knowledge in stage fighting and will only continue to grow! I am many steps from where I was, and have many more to go!:)

When I get the video from Mark, I will post it on Feceboon, here, and also my website!:)

I could not be more thankful for the experiences that I have been able to learn and take away from Tecusmeh!, they will forever be ingrained in my body and only help me go further!! I also could not be more thankful for Jenny Male pushing me so hard this year is all that I have done.

-side note- as I am writing this I am gm eating pizza, well I just burning the back of my mouth! Great start to the afternoon!:)

Anywho,

This Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday I plan on heading to some very special places. Keep an eye out for what they are. They do entail earthworks!;)

Also keep a look out each day this week to read about another final!:)

What a week...so far!

Hello all,

We are nearing the end of the 2014 season and it is simply crazy time!

A simple run down what has been going on:

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow I am playing Red Horse and Kothee! (much excite)

We are now having auditions for next season! (I had mine today!)

We hard our yearly RPS tournament this year. I survived the first round, but did I win the championship?

I have been more focused on these things rather then blogging at this time.

Tomorrow, I will get a nice break and be able to give a full detailed report about my week and my time playing Red Horse!

Now I will say that last night was a blast, but extremely nerve racking! Doing something entirely new was refreshing but challenging.

Now, I did have a few mess ups, but nothing to serious! It will all be changed for tonight's performance!!

With much excitement to scalp again, I have to get ready,

Another Milestone

Hello all,

Another milestone had past for me, to be honest two milestones have past!

1) for the 2014 season, we have offically done 50 shows!! That is incredible to think that we have put on this show 50 times!! What happened with this summer?? I know it has been flying by for me. How about you?

50 shows means that I have died 50 times, been knocked out by Raybud 50 times, have fallen 50 times, and so much more! I wonder how many miles this has been??

The next milestone:

2) I personally have completed 125 shows of Tecumseh! 73 as Leasning Tree, 1 as Frog Hunter, 51 as Kothee, and 1 as Barking Fox!

Let me tell you this has been an amazing experience! To do this all in two years is incredible! Here is to the final 22 shows of the 2014 season!!

Now I leave you with this:

You maybe asking what is up with your knee? You will find out soon enough!;)

Show update pt 2

To continue the series on show update.

Focus today is on Act 2!

Yesterday I left at intermission. What happens at this point?

A 15 minute break! Yes I get to sit down....said no one ever!:) I don't have to rush, but I get all of my Kothee stuff on underneath my 2.2 stuff. Fix my makeup so that Ashley won't yell at me!:) then head to the top.

2.1

This is the Drill! An absolutely amazing part of the show! Hearing that many guns go off at the same time is incredible!! I am no where near the stage at this point, just getting ready for 2.2

2.2

The council! A great moment between Black Hoof and Tecumseh! Both battle it out in a debate of power. Who will win, I don't know, but I am sitting top level of the stage right prom look down at them. I feel that I should have been blocked to have popcorn to watch this argument unfold!:)

2.3/2.4

Not in these scenes, however this starts, what I call, the chain. That is the name I have given it. What it means that this marks the first change to Kothee. You will see what I mean in a few words.

2.5

After a change to Kothee, I have this beautiful scene with Tensk! Watch for me running across stage to alert Tensk about Tecumseh coming back! Haha someone is about to get in trouble.

This scene takes place on the Stage Right Prom, mid level.

I don't want to give out any spoilers, so I will continue.

2.6

Not in this scene, but pay attention! This scene is very important! Well every scene is important. They all need each other to work.

After exiting SR, I run over to SL to change back to general indian for 2.7.

This change is roughly half of what the last change was. I would say a solid 90-120 seconds. I may be off my rocker, but it feels like that.

2.7

Enter SL prom with my favorite Headdress on! This scene we could see a break out of war!:) will it happen? I guess you will have to see it and find out!!

2.8

After leaving 2.7, that second that I am off stage, I start to take off items.

Once we have been given the cue to move freely backstage becuase of horses, I have to SPRINT!!

Take the headdress off and grab everything I have to race over to SR to change to Kothee!

This is a super quick change! So quick that I use the amazing help from the Stage manager!!

To change to Kothee from a general indian this is what happens:

Change costume
Change chest plate
Change wig

Have a few seconds to look good
Get on stage!

I would say that I have a total 2 minutes from the start of the Sprint to waking on stage. That is not a lot of time at all!!

2.8b

Enter SR prom and light a firepit!!!that made me super duper excited this year to light one!;)

I also get to be next to the POOF POTS! It is super awesome feeling that heat!

Ok I can't spoil this scene, but it is awesome!!

2.8c

This is the favorite battle of them all!

This is the BIG BOY!

Many explosions, gun fire, crazy combat, and much death!;)

Look for me doing a roll center stage.

Hint: this roll is a cue for the next reciprocal to go off!;)

And let it be known that Kothee, who followed Tenks this whole time, is killed!

2.9

The last of the "Chain"! I change back into general Indian and get ready to stage on stage for the rest of the show!:)

If you don't know why I called it the chain, here is why:

2.2 general indian
2.5 Kothee
2.7 General
2.8 Kothee
2.9 General

It has created a chain!;)

Ok moving on!

2.10

After being on stage, a small battle happens, I make the smart decsion to leave. I have my backstory why I leave! We can get into that later!:)

After the Battle, and certain events happen. I am apart of another favorite moment of the show. I carry off someone! I have to be vague, some people don't like spoliers!;)

That ends the show!

Then it is the coolest part of the show: Meet and Greet!! That will be discussed in pt. 3 tomorrow!

This year is really cool. Last year I used a lot of fire, this year I get to carry a lot of people! 4 to be exact, and I get carried once!;)

You may have notice that I used "favoirte" a lot. That was not on accident. There are way to many moments in his show that I simply love that I can't have one favorite moment.

Later on this season I want to write a post about the major battle and what happens. Tell you some secerts about the battle! You would be the only people that would know, along with the cast!;)

Anyways I have some stuff to do, have an amazing weekend!!

Let the adventure start!

I have now offically be back on the mountain for two full days! It feels great to be back! Honestly it feels as if I was only gone for a weekend and then can back!

I have not been able to post just yet due to the amazing internet the last few days!

This year I am in cabin 14. This cabin is way in the back behind two other cabins. Almost feels as if it is lost back there!;)

When I got here, there were a few changes!! These changes are incredible!

First the laundry room:

NEW WASHERS AND DRYERS!! Yes I promise not to break them this year!

New we see the showers:

If you don't know, last year these were covered in Indian paint and had broken tiles!! Amazing!! But it gets even better!!

We are now able to shut this door!! I am being serious when I express how happy this made me!! These small changes are simply incredible and could not thank the maintenance crew, the board, and everyone else that made this happen!

The above image was from move in. The cabin is extremely spacious and the roommates are awesome!

Today, Monday, Indian men got back on horses! What an amazing time to be back on a horse! I love it! There is something about the horse that is powerful yet peaceful!!

Today we finished up 1.1 blocking. This year I am apart of the gauntlet!! I can't wait for that!:D

We also started a little on combat and will be focusing more time to that as rehearsal process continues!

I don't know what they will be doing for Kothee's fight this year, but I am 110% down for anything! Bring on the blood lust!:)

Finally tonight, around 7pm, we will be running 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, and 1.7. That first number is the act and the second number is the scene. That is all done on the first day! Incredible! This process surprised be last year and it seems the same this year!

I will be keeping you all up to date regarding scene blocking, horse riding experience, high falls, and so much more! Keep an eye out for all future post!:)

As dinner break comes to an end, also I need to work some stuff. I leave you with this, our day schedule:

Thank you all,

Tecumseh! 2014

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen,

As I am doing my laundry one more time at Lindenwood University, I thought I would start my first of many updates regarding the experience and happenings at Tecumseh! this summer! If you followed last summer, you know the routine!

Last summer I played the character 'Leaning Tree' and this summer I will be having a completely different experience with the role 'Kothee.' I am supper duper thrilled to be able to join this cast again this summer and to be able to have this experience again.

One main difference, that I already know of, I will be in the scene of the Gauntlet (if you don't know what I am talking about, don't fear I will keep you posted!). This gauntlet happens after the 1.1 battle, last year I was not apart of that due to the character I was playing! That is exciting just in itself! There are also many difference that will shape up from last summer to this summer! I can't wait to explore them all!

With one more week to prepare for this madness again (we only have 2 weeks of rehearsal, about), I start to think how will this season compare? I am looking forward to be able to meet all of the new cast and crew members this year and also see all of the returnees. This is always one of my favorite parts of theater: meeting new people, making lasting relationships, and hearing their story!

On top of this last week left, not only do I have Kothee's lines to continue to work on, I also have understudy lines! I am thrilled to be able to find out who I am understudying way in advance, it helps a lot! Then to throw a little more spice to the fire, it is FINALS WEEK!! I don't have extreme finals, but I do have a few things that I need to spend time on! THEN I have to pack everything up and move out of my dorm!:D

Many things will come into play: horse, stage combat, long days, loads of makeup, and it all just adds to this wonderful experience!

It will be another incredible summer filled with amazing memories and experiences!! I am thrilled to be able to bring you them to you and I hope that you will enjoy the excitement as much as I will be.

If you happen to have an Instagram I will be using #tecumseh2014 throughout the summer. I may SHOCK the world and get a twitter! Also keep in touch through Facebook! Ask me questions and I will be more then happy to answer them.

Look out for a few postings regarding Coasting for Kids, Lindenwood Wrap up, and also the next Tecumseh! post!
