Agathon, Graviton, MARATHON

Hello All,

You are all wondering what the hell Agathon, Graviton, and Marathon all have in common...well nothing other then that they rhyme with each other. However one of the three words do mean something to me, but which one?

Agathonwas an Athenian tragic poet whose works have been lost. He is best known for his appearance in Plato's Symposium.
Graviton: is a hypothetical elementary particle that mediates the force of gravitation in the framework of quantum field theory.
Marathona long-distance running race, strictly one of 26 miles and 385 yards (42.195 km).

If you happened to guess Agathon, then you got it RIGHT!! I am writing about a dead poet whose works have been lost! -when pigs fly.

Now for the serious part of this blog, I bet you are all sick of the BS crap you just read!

This last weekend, I happened to take part in the Rock and Roll St. Louis Marathon with my brother. My brother and I ran this together and finished together, what a great moment between us. This marathon was for the Quinn Family Foundation that is apart of the T.A.S.K. group that partakes in helping special kids. I find this group to be VERY IMPRESSIVE group that is doing great things! Please check them out here, or here!

Now to talk more about my brother and I. We finished the marathon in a whooping 4:04.06 (I wish I was under 4 hours, but oh well). Now this was very hard, but how hard was it?

This was my first ever marathon, I just jumped up there and decided to start with a full marathon and not a half! I was feeling great at the half marathon with a time of 1:48.19 and average pace of 8:15. Now this was a great pace for a full marathon that would give me enough time to have been under 4 hours.

However St. Louis is built on this never ending hill, All we did was go up and up and up like we were never going to stop. My attitude towards this marathon went down hill around the point of entering Forest Park. This was the hardest part and the point that I died.

Mile 16 I was ok, not great, but ok. Fast forward 5 miles and you get this quote from my mom:

"You looked like you were in a daze, white, and not there. I did not think you were going to finish."

Yes my parents were down in STL to support my brother and I during the race and her quote was right. I felt like shit. I felt like I was going to die. My brother kept pushing and pushing till we finished!!

Once I finished, lets just say I was not doing good. I was dizzy, light headed, and could not focus. I felt like I was drunk, but never had any alcohol. My brother finally noticed something was wrong when I was drinking my third bottle of water and I spilled half of it and could not get it in my mouth. At this point I was helped to a cot and passed out for (what I thought was 10-15 minutes) 45 minutes. I had two blankets on me and finally I sat up and could move again!

Overall it was a great experience. The first 13.1 miles I held a 8:15(ish) and finished with an average pace of 9:19. Now you can do the homework and figure out my last 13.1 mile pace. Click here for all of my stats. Click the link under 2013, click on marathon, search my name Daniel Sukup, and then you will be able to see my stats, sorry no other way to do this.

After all of that jazz, I can say two days latter and muscles a lot better, that (and this is where my mom will kill me) I will most likely do another marathon within a years time.

Quickly moving on: If you want to see some AWESOME photos Click here (Jeremy Sukup) and HERE to see my brother and I running!:)  Now I would try to post some photos but they are copyrighted and my computer is dying.

Well that is that and I am grateful for having this opportunity to not only run a full marathon that only 1% of America does, but to be able to run with my brother!

Here is a great video about Detroit police:

Love you all,

Matthew 21:21,22

"Then Jesus told them, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don't doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, 'May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it."
